Pradyot urges voters to reject BJP in ADC polls

Agartala, 15th February 2026:   Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarma, founder of the Tipra Motha Party today        launched a strong criticism of the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party, accusing it of neglecting development in areas under the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC). He urged voters not to support the BJP in the upcoming elections, describing the issue as crucial for the future of tribal youth and the next generation.

Addressing a joining programme at South Hadrai in West District, where around 150 voters from 30 families switched allegiance to the Tipra Motha Party, Pradyot emphasized the need for unity among indigenous communities. He said that tribals, as “sons of the soil,” should not remain economically disadvantaged in their own land and blamed political divisions for weakening collective strength.

According to him, internal divisions have hindered progress and allowed others to benefit from resources that rightfully belong to the Tiprasa people. He also expressed concern over what he described as growing social and political fragmentation within tribal society.

Without naming the BJP directly at certain points, Pradyot alleged that attempts were being made to divide tribal communities for political gain. He asserted that his party was not intimidated by such strategies and declared that while the BJP may aim to control the district council in 2026, the Tipra Motha Party is preparing to form the government in the Tripura Assembly in 2028.

Questioning the effectiveness of the “double-engine government” narrative, he claimed that many village areas still lack basic infrastructure such as roads, mobile connectivity, and drinking water facilities. He further alleged that although natural resources like gas and oil originate from district council areas, the financial benefits are concentrated in Agartala rather than reaching local communities.

Pradyot concluded by calling for unity among tribal voters and urged them to make what he termed a decisive choice in the forthcoming elections, stressing that the outcome would significantly impact the prospects of younger generations.
