Agartala, March 18: Tripura Journalists Union’s general secretary Pranab Sarkar has been re-elected as the All India Secretary of Journalists Union (IJU). This election was held on Saturday at Raipur of Chhattisgarh.
Geethartha Pathak was re-elected as President, Sabina Indrajit was re-elected as General Secretary, Returning Officer Rampung Pamel announced the names of the winning candidates after the election. Santosh Gope also became NEC member from Tripura, Syed Sajjad Ali became NEC member. The two-day long All India Conference of Journalists’ Union concluded on Saturday.
Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel inaugurated the conference in presence of Press Council of India member Vinod Kohli and All India leader Saba Karim. Representatives from most of the states of the country were present.
The process of merger between the two groups of IJU began and a committee of 6 members has been formed in this regard. Leaders of various groups of JU were also present in the conference.
It may be mentioned that Pranab Sarkar has been elected as the All India Secretary of Journalists Union for the second time.
