Agartala, 1st December 2023: The Gomati District Administration, in collaboration with the Youth Affairs and Sports Office and the Social Welfare and Social Education Department, held a youth festival and a program to promote girls’ education and empowerment at Rajarshi Hall in Udaipur on Friday.
The event was inaugurated by Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy, who praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s efforts to foster sports, arts, culture and women’s development in the country.
He said that women are playing a vital role in all spheres of society and are being empowered from the highest office of the President to the grassroots level. He also announced that the government has made education free for girls in government colleges and urged young women to pursue their talents in all fields.
He said that the youth festival is an important platform to showcase the skills and potential of the young generation, who will be the future leaders of the nation. He also appealed to the people to avail the benefits of the Prati Ghore Sushasan 2.0 program, which aims to deliver government services to the doorstep of every citizen.
The event was presided over by Debal Debroy, the Sabhadipati of Gomati Zilla Parishad, who said that women’s participation is crucial for the holistic development of the society. He said that the government is implementing various schemes to empower girls and women, such as Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao and Tripura Rural Livelihood Mission.
The event also saw the presence of Udaipur Municipal Council Chairperson Shital Chandra Majumder, Amarpur Divisional Police Officer Debanjali Roy and other dignitaries. Gomati District’s DM Tarit Kanti Chakma welcomed the guests and the participants.
The event also featured the distribution of prize money and certificates to 111 meritorious students, health workers, women players of Gomti district for their outstanding achievements in education, health, social service work etc.
