Agartala, March 15. Union minister of state Pratima Bhoumik tendered her resignation from the post of the MLA, which she had recently won from 23-Dhanpur assembly constituency to the Protem Speaker Binay Bhushan Das at state assembly premises here on Wednesday.
Bhoumik was accompanied by Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare minister Ratan Lal Nath.
Speaking to media persons here, Bhoumik said “I convey my best wishes to the Protem Speaker Binay Bhushan Das as the ruling BJP had selected him for this respective post and today, he had assumed the charge of his office.”
“People are well aware that the election results of 60 assembly constituencies were announced on March 02 last. Accordingly, I am holding two respectful posts, which is not permissible. The ruling BJP central leadership had permitted me to contest in Dhanpur assembly constituency despite being the member of Lok Sabha and MoS. And, on the advice of my party, I tendered my resignation from the post of MLA in Dhanpur seat to the Protem Speaker in the state assembly premises”, she added.
Bhoumik further gave assurances to the electorates and people of Dhanpur assembly constituency that the commitments of development that she had made while campaign before assembly polls, all shall be fulfilled for the welfare of all.
