Agartala, 12th December 2025:  The state government will once again organize the traditional Pitha-Puli Festival this winter, coinciding with Poush Sankranti and Makar Sankranti, to make Alpana Gram more vibrant and attractive.

A preparatory meeting was held on Friday at the Agartala Municipal Corporation office to enrich the annual celebration. The meeting was chaired by Mayor Dipak Majumdar, with Paschim Tripura Zilla Parishad Sabhadhipati Biswajit Shil and other officials in attendance.

Mayor Majumdar announced that several initiatives are being planned to make this year’s festival more popular and lively. “This festival is not only about the taste of traditional pitha and puli, but also about strengthening Bengali folk heritage, culture, and social bonds,” he said.

The festival will feature the preparation and sale of a wide variety of traditional pithas, adding to the joy of the winter season. Officials noted that the government’s initiative will not only enhance Alpana village’s identity but also encourage local artisans and performers.

A detailed action plan to ensure smooth execution of the festival is expected to be announced soon.
