Agartala, 9th September 2025: In anticipation of the upcoming Durga Puja celebrations, Yatraipur Police Station convened a coordination meeting today with representatives from local clubs, Barowari Puja committees, community leaders, and administrative officials. The gathering aimed to ensure peaceful and well-regulated festivities across the region.
The meeting was attended by SDPO Shashi Mohan Debbarma, OC Smriti Kanta Bardhan, social workers Bipul Majumdar, Biswajit Bhowmik, Ratan Debnath and other stakeholders. Discussions centered on legal compliance, public safety and logistical preparedness for the festival.
OC Bardhan emphasized the importance of adhering to legal norms during the celebrations, including crowd management, sound regulations, and idol height restrictions. He urged all Puja organizers to cooperate with law enforcement to maintain order and harmony.
Social worker Biswajit Bhowmik raised concerns about forced donations, stating, “No one should be coerced into contributing. Stopping vehicles to demand money is unacceptable.” He also highlighted other ethical and procedural aspects that Puja committees should consider.
Bipul Majumdar cautioned against attempts to provoke religious sentiments and called on clubs and committees to remain vigilant. “It is our collective responsibility to safeguard the sanctity of our faith,” he said.
Concluding the meeting, SDPO Debbarma praised the area’s longstanding reputation for peaceful celebrations and urged organizers to remain mindful of electricity usage, idol dimensions, sound levels, and substance abuse. “Let this year’s Puja reflect the discipline and unity our community is known for,” he remarked.
The meeting set a collaborative tone for the festivities, reinforcing the shared commitment to a safe and joyous Durga Puja.
