Presidential election begins in state, CM , DYCM confident of Murmu’s victory

Agartala: July 18. The presidential election in Tripura has started at 10 AM along with across the country.All the MLAs of ruling BJP, IPFT and Opposition parties came to cast their vote for the presidential candidate. The leader of the Opposition Manik Sarkar also came, even Congress MLA Sudip Roy Barman too.

However the MPs of our state including Pratima Bhoumik and Rebati Tripura would cast their vote in New Delhi.Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha has also casted his vote for the first time in presidential election.While speaking with reporters, Dr Saha said he is confident enough that the NDA nominated candidate Draupadi Murmu will win the election with landslide victory.

“We came here today to give vote to our NDA candidate Draupadi Murmu who is from indigenous community. She also came here in Tripura and I am confident enough that she will win a landslide victory. Not only our party but also other party supported her and she will win. Everyone is coming and will vote for her”, he said.

However he said there is no chance of cross voting. “We have urged the opposition parties too to give vote as for the first time an indigenous person is a candidate for president and I feel they should support”, he added.While deputy chief minister Jishnu Dev Varma said BJP is creating history by giving candidates like Murmu.“This is for the first time in the history that an indigenous lady is a candidate for presidential election. It is a very significant day in the history of India. This is what democracy and by the people, for the people and of the people. She was a governor. I want to thank PM Modi for giving a candidate like Murmu”, he said.

He further said that BJP didn’t hope that they will get such candidate and opposition parties were also shocked. “BJP is creating history. We are supporting her wholeheartedly. I want congratulate in advance to her and I hope opposition parties also cast their vote for her for the sake of the Country”, the DyCM added.
