Agartala, 21st January 2026:   The State Police Crime Branch has made a significant breakthrough in the Phensedyl seizure case at Jirania Railway Station with the arrest of the prime accused, Deep Prakash Gupta.

According to police sources, Gupta, a resident of Delhi, was apprehended from Uttar Pradesh and has since been brought to the state. He is scheduled to be produced before the court today.

The arrest follows the earlier recovery of a massive consignment of Phensedyl from a railway wagon at Jirania—an incident that had sent shockwaves across the state. During the course of the investigation, Deep Prakash Gupta was identified as the principal mastermind behind the drug trafficking operation, which is believed to have international links.

Police officials stated that further interrogation of the accused is expected to yield vital information regarding other individuals involved in the racket, as well as its cross-border network. The investigation has been intensified as authorities move to dismantle the entire drug trafficking syndicate.
