Prime suspect in Durga Prasanna Deb’s murder case Akash Kar extradited to Tripura

Agartala, 11th May 2024 :   In a significant development in the Ushabazar’s Bharat Ratna Sangha club’s general secretary Durga Prasanna Deb’s murder case, Akash Kar was extradited to Tripura on an early morning flight this Saturday. Kar is a prime suspect in the homicide of Durga Prasanna Deb alias Vicky, the general secretary of the Bharat Ratna Sangh Club. Vicky’s life was tragically cut short by gunfire on April 30.

In the wake of the high-profile murder, authorities have detained multiple individuals from within and beyond state borders. Kar’s apprehension took place in Jharkhand late Thursday evening. Following his arrest, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) from the state police department was dispatched to Jharkhand to secure his transfer.

Upon his arrival in Tripura, Kar underwent a mandatory health check-up at GB Hospital. The medical procedures concluded without incident, and he was subsequently escorted to the local police station. Authorities are preparing to present Kar before the court today, seeking an official police remand for further interrogation.
