At least five shops, 2 godown and two houses were burnt into ashes today morning.The devastating incident took place at hatkata market of Khowai.Suddenly the fire broke out in Hatkata market under Khowai police station around 10 o’clock on Monday morning.Bappa Deb’s xerox shop at a distance of 50 meters from Khowai Birchandra Class XII School. According to eyewitnesses, the fire started from that shop only.
Soon after the fire caught the flames spread to the surrounding shops.Immediately the information was given to fire service department. First, a fire engine rushed to the spot.
However they failed to control the fire with the help of one fire engine. Later, another engine rushed to the spot.Finally, the fire was brought under control with the joint efforts of two fire engines and local residents.
However, the cause of the fire is not known.According to the affected traders of the market, if the police investigate properly, the mystery of the incident will come out.It is known that the damage in the fire will be crores of rupees.
