Agartala Nov 04: Locals of Maiganga railway bridge adjacent area under Teliamura PS blocked road in protested against drinking water crisis.The agitators alleged that despite of informing the local leaders and concerned authorities repeatedly nothing has been done to solve the issue.
One protestor said that the BJP government seems to have miserably failed to mitigating the crisis of drinking water in the state.
The protesters added, “At a time when the administration is claiming to provide drinking water to each household, we are deprived of the same since long time”.
The locals said that even authorities could have managed the crisis by sending water tankers to the area, however, despite repeated pleas, they failed to do so, resulting in the severe hardships to the locals.
“We are forced to fetch water from dirty streams which have potential to cause water born diseases, “they added.Police of Teliamura police station reached the spot and tried to negotiate with the agitators.However, the blockade was later lifted as the villagers were assured by the locals leaders that their problems will be solved immediately.
