Agartala, January 28: The Sonamura-Kathalia road was blocked by a group of residents on Sunday morning, who demanded the arrest of a cow thief and the recovery of the stolen cows. The protesters blocked the main road near Kathalia Hospital, causing traffic disruption and inconvenience to the commuters.

According to the protesters, two cows were stolen from North Maheshpur on Saturday night by an unidentified person. They alleged that this was not the first time such an incident had occurred and that the police had failed to take any action on their previous complaints. They said that they would not lift the blockade until the police caught the thief and returned the cows to their owners.

The Jatrapur police reached the spot and tried to persuade the protesters to clear the road, but they did not heed the police’s request. The police said that they were investigating the matter and appealed to the protesters to maintain peace and order. The situation remained tense till the time of filing this report.
