Agartala, December 11: Tension escalated in Bishalgarh as the police faced criticism for allegedly arresting innocent individuals while the main accused in the recent Bishalgarh robbery remained elusive. A women’s force staged a protest, besieging the Bishalgarh police station, voicing their concerns over the arrest of innocent individuals and the apparent failure to apprehend the primary suspect.

Last Saturday, an innocent youth from Madhya Lakshmibil area was apprehended in connection with the robbery of a Bolero car and cash on the Bishalgarh Bypass Road. The mastermind behind the robbery, identified as Bidyut Sarkar, was successfully captured by local residents near Office Tilla School last Thursday afternoon.

The robbery in question occurred on December 2nd, when perpetrators intercepted a car traveling from Sabroom to Agartala on the Bishalgarh bypass road. The driver’s mobile phone and a sum of two and a half lakhs in cash were forcibly taken. The Bishalgarh police station registered a case following the incident.

While Bidyut Sarkar and Sajal Nama, identified as the main accused in the robbery case, were apprehended from the vicinity of Office Tilla School, the police detained an innocent individual named Subhankar Das. This lopsided action has led to community outrage, especially among women’s groups, prompting them to encircle the police station in protest.

The incident highlights growing concerns about the investigative approach and the need for a thorough review of the arrest procedures. The public demands swift action to apprehend the actual culprits behind the Bishalgarh robbery, emphasizing the importance of ensuring justice and preventing the wrongful detention of innocent individuals.
