Agartala, 12th April 2025: Parents in Kanchanpur staged a protest on Saturday, locking the gates of Kumarghat Eklavya School following allegations of irregularities in the admission process. Accusing the school administration of nepotism, parents claimed that the admission test results were manipulated, leaving their children’s academic future uncertain.
“The scam has been clearly revealed in the results of the school’s admission test,” a parent alleged during the protest. The controversy stems from the admission test for sixth grade, where students from Kanchanpur Ratanmani Memorial Ashram School—an institution under the Tribal Welfare Department—reportedly failed to secure admission despite successfully completing their fifth-grade studies.
As per the parents, the failure to pass the test bars students from attempting admission in other Eklavya schools, leaving them in a difficult position. This prompted parents to demand immediate action. “We are not backing down from this movement until the administration ensures admission for all unsuccessful students,” a parent stated resolutely.
Officials of the Kanchanpur Subdistrict Administration intervened after receiving reports of the school being locked and teachers being detained. Upon reaching the scene, they assured the agitated parents that the issue was temporary. However, the protest lasted for five hours before the administration convinced parents to leave the premises.
Authorities are now under pressure to address the parents’ demands and investigate the allegations of irregularities in the admission process. Further developments are awaited as tensions remain high in the community.
