Agartala, 20th December 2025 : The Health Department of Tripura will conduct the Pulse Polio Immunization Programme on Sunday, 21 December 2025, coinciding with National Immunization Day, in a determined effort to safeguard India’s polio-free status.
Speaking at a press briefing, Saju Vaheed A, Mission Director of the National Health Mission, said: “India has remained polio-free for the past 14 years, but recent cases in neighboring countries remind us that vigilance is essential. To prevent any re-entry of the disease, oral polio vaccine drops will be administered to all children under five years of age across Tripura.”
The drive will cover 3,40,874 children aged 0–5 years, supported by 3,409 vaccination booths across the state. A workforce of 13,636 vaccinators and 682 supervisors will be deployed to ensure smooth execution. Booths will be set up at schools, hospitals, Anganwadi centres, sub-health centres, and temporary locations to maximize coverage.
Children who miss the vaccine on 21 December will be reached through door-to-door visits on 22 and 23 December by ASHA workers and health staff. Awareness campaigns have also been launched to ensure no child is left out. Officials reiterated the message: “Two drops today, a healthy future tomorrow.”
The press conference was attended by Shri Saju Vaheed A, Dr. Nupur Debbarma (Joint Mission Director), Dr. Souvik Debbarma (Member Secretary, Health & Family Welfare Society), and Dr. Sribas Debbarma (State Immunization Officer). The Health Department reaffirmed its commitment to public health and urged parents to participate actively in the campaign.
