Agartala, 9th May 2026: The 165th birth anniversary of Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore was celebrated with due reverence at the Montessori Teacher Training College this afternoon. The programme, held at 1 p.m., featured a vibrant cultural segment where a large number of trainees participated in dance, music, and recitation.
The event was inaugurated by Pradip Acharya, Regional Director of the college, who attended as the chief guest. Dr. Ashis Kumar Vaidya, Joint Director of the institution, was present as the special guest of honour and delivered the keynote address. Dr. Sushanta Sarkar, Assistant Professor of Bhavan’s B.Ed College, graced the occasion as a distinguished guest.
The programme was presided over by noted social worker Subrata Chakraborty (Swapan Chakraborty). The cultural proceedings of the Rabindra tribute were directed by eminent singer Sheela Dasgupta, adding depth and artistry to the celebration.
The event reflected the enduring legacy of Tagore’s philosophy and creativity, inspiring both faculty and trainees to uphold his vision of education and culture.
