Agartala, September 02, 2023: The state president of the BJP Rajib Bhattacharjee, has called upon the residents of the 20-Boxanagar and 23-Dhanpur assembly constituencies to cast their votes in favor of the BJP in the forthcoming by-elections scheduled for September 5.
In a press conference held at the state BJP office, Bhattacharjee addressed the citizens, emphasizing that certain opposition political parties in the state had attempted to mislead the public by insinuating the existence of an alliance. However, he asserted that the people had not been swayed by these attempts and had instead chosen to scrutinize the situation closely.
Bhattacharjee took a dig at the 35-year-old Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPI(M)) government, remarking that they seemed unable to function without their “Baisakhi” (a reference to coalition partners). He contended that the CPIM’s inability to stand alone was both shameful and condemnable. Furthermore, he highlighted the diminished presence of CPIM in Sonamura, suggesting that the political landscape had shifted significantly.
Highlighting recent developments, Bhattacharjee noted that even the last remnants of the Congress party in the region had aligned with the BJP, as former minister Billal Mia had recently joined the BJP’s ranks.
Confident in the BJP’s prospects, Bhattacharjee stated that the victory of the BJP’s nominated candidates in the two assembly constituencies was assured. He also touched upon the stance of the Tipra party, affirming that they had made it clear that they would not support the CPIM.
Additionally, Bhattacharjee mentioned that the Leader of the Opposition, Animesh Debbarma, had encouraged local residents to exercise their voting rights in favor of their preferred candidate, underscoring that the BJP’s “double engine government” was best poised to drive the state of Tripura towards development.
Bhattacharjee concluded by expressing hope that the residents of the two assembly constituencies would vote in favor of progress and development in the state during the upcoming by-elections. The press conference was attended by State BJP spokesperson Nabendu Bhattacharjee.
