Agartala, 2nd July 2024:   Pradesh BJP President Rajib Bhattacharya accused Congress of having a longstanding habit of insulting Hindus and demanded an apology from Rahul Gandhi for his recent statement in the Lok Sabha.*

During a press conference, Bhattacharya criticized the Leader of Opposition, Rahul Gandhi, for making what he described as a baseless and false statement. He stated, “His behavior and statements were inaccurate and inappropriate. The discussion was centered on the President of India’s speech, but Rahul Gandhi deviated, making false and fabricated claims. His remarks not only insulted Hindus but also labeled them as liars and sophisticated. The BJP condemns his statement and protests against it. We appeal to senior Congress leaders to ensure Rahul Gandhi upholds the dignity of the Parliament.”

Bhattacharya further noted that since 2004, Rahul Gandhi has not held a constitutional post, implying that his past behavior might have been consistent with his then-status. However, he emphasized that as the current Leader of Opposition, such behavior is unbecoming and is viewed negatively by the public.

“Insulting Hindus is an old habit of Congress. They have been doing it for a long time, and there is ample evidence. In 2010, during the UPA government, then Home Minister P. Chidambaram referred to Hindus as ‘terrorists.’ We strongly condemn Rahul Gandhi’s statements and speeches. Previously, Congress has also misled the public with false statements against our security forces. We demand that Rahul Gandhi issue an apology in Parliament,” he concluded.
