Rajib terms Congress as ‘rudderless’ ship, over 1200 voters join BJP

Agartala, 14th December 2023 : In a significant development, Tripura Pradesh BJP President Rajib Bhattacharya declared the Congress a “rudderless ship” in the aftermath of its defeat in four states during the recent elections. Bhattacharya made these comments during a massive joining program held in Karamcherra, Dhalai District, where around 1,200 voters from 523 families, previously affiliated with CPIM and Congress, joined the BJP.

During a meeting with two senior CPIM leaders the night before, Bhattacharya revealed that they praised the role of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP government. The CPIM leaders acknowledged losing ground and attributed it to the absence of a viable alternative to the BJP. Former supporters of Congress and CPIM in the state, according to Bhattacharya, are recognizing the BJP’s commitment to the overall development of the state at both state and central levels.

Accusing CPIM, Congress, and other regional parties of inadequately fostering development, Bhattacharya asserted that only the BJP can deliver tangible benefits to the people without resorting to unnecessary political movements.

“Our government is dedicated to ‘Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas,’ and as people join us, it reflects their realization that the present BJP government is actively working towards the overall development of the state. Congress, having lost in four states, is now a rudderless ship. They have resorted to slogans against PM Modi, claiming victory in the next election. This dire condition of Congress is not limited to Tripura but extends across the country. The current Congress leaders in the state have switched parties seven times, primarily motivated by financial considerations,” he added.

Highlighting the historical context, Rajib mentioned that many Congress leaders faced attacks, and some were even murdered in Tripura during the CPIM’s tenure. Surprisingly, these former Congress workers have now aligned with their former adversary, CPIM, to contest the upcoming 2023 assembly polls.

“People have taught CPIM a fitting lesson. They have lost the title of the opposition party. CPIM has exploited the people and deprived the poor during their 25 years of rule,” he concluded.
