Agartala, 17th January 2025:   At the 111th birth anniversary celebration of the esteemed orator Advaita Mallavarman, SC Welfare Minister Sudhangshu Das shared profound reflections on the nature of life and legacy. The event took place at the Mukta Mancha of Ramthakur College here was attended by MLA Mina Rani Sarkar, Tripura Cultural Advisory Committee’s Vice-Chairman Subrata Chakraborty, Deputy Mayor Manika Das Datta, and RTC Principal Papri Das.

Minister Das began his speech by contemplating the inevitability of birth and death. “Birth and death are eternal events in human life. If we are born, we will die somewhere in my soul. None of us who are born in this world will remain mine. According to the laws of nature, everyone will die one day,” he stated. He emphasized that while millions of children are born and millions of people die every day, it is one’s work and achievements that truly immortalize them in the hearts of others.

Reflecting on the life of Advaita Mallavarman, Minister Das highlighted the challenges and triumphs of the celebrated figure. “Advaita Mallavarman was born in a family where those who were prominent social workers and had the so-called social system, who were the holders and bearers of a developed society, in that village, that neighborhood was known as ‘Gabar (fool) Para’. This ‘Gabar Para’ means those who are uneducated, stupid,” he explained. Despite these humble beginnings in Brahmanbaria, Bangladesh, Mallavarman’s legacy transcended borders and time.

“People on this side are remembering him today. Not because of his birth, but because of his work and achievements. It is not a big deal where you were born, your work is big. Because of your work, your society will remember you or will remember you,” Minister Das asserted. He recounted how Mallavarman, deprived of parental love and faced with numerous hardships, engaged in a lifelong struggle to establish himself and make a significant impact on society.

The celebration included a district-level and state-level seminar in honor of Advaita Mallavarman, with discussions centered on his societal contributions and philosophies. Minister Das remarked, “Advaita Mallavarman is one of the possible examples of how to establish oneself even in a contradictory situation in society.”

The event at Melaghar’s Dashamighat on January 2 was a fitting tribute to Mallavarman’s enduring legacy. As Minister Das concluded, he left the audience with a powerful message: “We remember Advaita Mallavarman for this reason, the child who was supposed to grow up with the love of his father and mother, the child who was deprived of everything in the world, without feeling happiness, sorrow, pain, that child was only engaged in struggle or movement from childhood, how to win the battle of life, that Advaita Mallavarman established himself in a very contradictory situation.”
