Agartala, November 03: The Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Ratanlal Nath on Friday inaugurated the newly constructed shelter house of Mohanpur Municipal Council at Mohanpur Block Complex. He said that the government is working to provide income to every household by extending various schemes of the central and state governments to the people of marginalized areas.
The minister said that the shelter house, which has 50 beds, was built at a cost of Rs 1 crore 67 lakh 42 thousand. He said that the shelter house can be used by self-help groups or NGOs to generate income and employment opportunities by running various activities. He said that the government has taken initiative to build a self-reliant Tripura and such shelter houses will help in achieving that goal.
The minister also said that the state government is planning to construct similar shelter houses in various subdivisions. He said that eight shelter houses have been constructed so far, including Mohanpur. He said that the shelter houses will also provide accommodation and facilities to the people who visit the subdivisions for various purposes.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by Mohanpur Municipal Council Chairperson Anita Debnath, Vice Chairperson Shankar Deb, Mohanpur Panchayat Samiti Chairman Reena Debbarma, Vice Chairman Rakesh Deb, Urban Development Department Officer Rajat Kanti Dey, Social Worker Shyamal Debnath and others. Subhash Datta, SDM of Mohanpur sub-division, welcomed the guests and thanked the minister for his support.
