Agartala, June 30: People are for people. It’s not a big deal whether you can stay close to a person in times of happiness or not, the big thing is if you can stay close to them in times of danger. The heart-breaking incident that happened on the day of Ulto Rath at Kumarghat, this grief cannot be forgotten by anything. What else can be done other than just being a family member and placing a sympathetic hand on their shoulder. Even then, the pain of losing a relative upset me. This is how Power Minister Ratan Lal Nath expressed his reaction after coming straight to Kumarghat from the airport on Friday.

He was in Tawang in Arunachal Pradesh to attend a meeting on electricity.

He came straight to Kumarghat along with his partner Debasish Sarkar, Managing Director of Tripura State Electricity Corporation Limited and Ranjan Debbarma, General Manager of Power Transport Department, on Friday’s flight from Agartala airport. Before this, however, the officials of TSECL have come to Kumarghat and established their base. Along with MLA Bhagwan Das of Kumarghat, the Minister of Power was briefed in detail about the incident of Uloto Rath day with the officials of Corporation. After that he went to the houses of the victims along with the officials of TSECL and spoke to their families. Several family members are still under treatment in the hospital in a critical condition. The Minister of Power has also inquired about them.

On this day, on behalf of the corporation, he gave cash assistance of Rs 1 lakh to the families of the victims. Fifty thousand rupees cash assistance was given to the families of the injured. Minister Santana Chakma and TSECL officials will reach the families of the two victims at Jayashree in Kanchanpur on Saturday with financial help from the corporation. On Saturday, besides going to GB Hospital to inquire about the injured, the Power minister and Corporation officials will hand over financial aid to them on behalf of TSECL.

While talking to reporters at Dak Bunglow in Kumarghat, the Nath said how the incident happened and who is responsible for it. It would not be right to say because the Chief Minister has already constituted an inquiry committee with the District Magistrate. The details will be clear only after this committee submits its report. TSECL is also preparing an internal report. But whatever the report may be, such a sad situation should never be seen again, so he stressed on all concerned to be more aware.
