Agartala, 14th May 2026:    Responding to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s appeal for fuel conservation amid the global energy crisis, Transport Minister Sushanta Chowdhury and Power Minister Ratan Lal Nath has announced a significant step toward reducing fuel consumption.

In a social media post, the minister Chowdhury stated that from today onward, two escort vehicles assigned to his security detail will no longer be used. He said the decision was taken in the interest of fuel conservation and national welfare.

In his post, he wrote, “Until the global fuel crisis is brought under control, I have decided to stop using the two escort vehicles assigned to my security duty in response to Prime Minister Narendra Modi Ji’s appeal.”

He also emphasized that every citizen should become more conscious about saving fuel and protecting national resources. Many people have viewed his move as a message promoting simplicity and responsible energy use.

Meanwhile, Tripura Agriculture and Power Minister Ratan Lal Nath has also taken an innovative initiative to spread awareness about fuel conservation and environmental protection. Responding to the Prime Minister’s call, he has decided to stop using escort vehicles and instead use a bicycle for his daily travel whenever possible.

The Agriculture Minister said he stopped using escort vehicles from yesterday and would now prefer cycling for nearby visits and public outreach programs. Riding a bicycle in the morning, he recalled memories of his childhood and spoke about the joy of staying connected to nature.

He said, “The path to nation-building is not created only through big announcements; often it begins with small initiatives. This morning’s ride brought back the sound of childhood pedals and a feeling of being closer to the soil.”

The minister further added that patriotism should not remain limited to words but should also be reflected in daily habits. He urged people to become more aware of fuel conservation, reducing pollution, and protecting the environment.

The Agriculture Minister’s initiative has already received positive reactions from the public. Many believe that such steps will encourage greater interest in eco-friendly transportation and environmental awareness across the state.
