Agartala, 28th April 2025:  The owner of Durlav Narayan No. 2 Government Fair Price Shop, Humayun Kabir Majumdar, has filed a formal complaint with the Sonamura police station against seven individuals, accusing them of defamation and false propaganda. The complaint was lodged on Sunday night, demanding strict action from the administration.

According to sources, a group allegedly associated with the ruling party has been spreading misinformation against the fair price shop, alleging mismanagement and rude behavior towards customers. However, investigations conducted by officials of the Food Department revealed that the allegations are entirely baseless. The officials confirmed that those filing the complaints were not registered customers of the shop.

Following the inquiry, the administration issued a certification stating that operations at the Durlav Narayan No. 2 Government Fair Price Shop are satisfactory and in compliance with regulations.

Despite this official clearance, the accused individuals allegedly continued their defamatory campaign against Humayun Kabir Majumdar by creating and using fake social media profiles. Sources further revealed that Majumdar had previously faced a false narcotics case years ago, from which he was acquitted, suggesting a history of targeted harassment.

The seven accused named in the FIR are Abdul Khalek, Abu Taher, Abdul Malek, Abu Taher Majumdar (Upa-Pradhan), Bajlo Majumdar, Suleman Majumdar, Alfu Mia Majumdar.

The case has stirred local tensions, with authorities assuring that appropriate legal action will be taken after thorough investigation.
