Agartala, 15th October 2026 : A traditional touch of Tripura’s indigenous culture will mark the upcoming Sharadiya Durga Puja at the headquarters of the 11th Battalion of the Tripura State Rifles (TSR) at Pathaliaghat in Bishramganj, where Goddess Durga will be worshipped in a setting inspired by the Reang community’s traditional lifestyle.
Assistant Commandant Snehashish Kumar Deb said the main attraction of this year’s celebration would be a traditional Tong Ghar, a stilt house associated with the Reang community. The idol of Goddess Durga will be adorned in a pachra, a traditional garment, reflecting the cultural heritage of the indigenous community.
According to Deb, the puja arrangements have been designed to preserve a traditional atmosphere, avoiding modern influences. TSR personnel have taken responsibility for the entire process, from constructing the puja pandal and preparing the idol to completing the decorations.
The initiative seeks to bring the region’s indigenous cultural traditions into the festive celebrations while maintaining the customary spirit of Durga Puja.
Deb has invited the general public, particularly residents of Sepahijala district, to visit the 11th Battalion headquarters at Pathaliaghat and participate in the festivities. Visitors will also be able to partake in prasad during the celebrations.
