Agartala, 5th September 2026 : Relatives of a critically injured road accident victim have levelled serious allegations against a doctor at Bishalgarh Sub-Divisional Hospital, claiming that the patient was left without wound dressing for nearly one hour and 20 minutes despite suffering heavy bleeding.
According to the relatives, Bishu Debnath sustained severe injuries after his motorcycle was hit by another vehicle at the bypass. He was brought to Bishalgarh Sub-Divisional Hospital at around 7:30 pm, where the family said he was given an injection but his bleeding wounds were not immediately dressed.
The relatives alleged that despite repeated requests from them to attend to the injuries, Dr. Mousumi Sarkar allegedly told them to leave the treatment area. They further claimed that when they raised concerns about the patient’s heavy bleeding, the doctor allegedly remarked, “Let the patient die, it doesn’t matter to us.”
The relatives said they subsequently contacted senior members and sought their intervention. Only after their intervention, they alleged, was the patient’s wound dressed and treatment initiated.
The family claimed that the patient was in a critical condition, with injuries to his face, hands and legs. They also alleged that the doctor behaved aggressively towards them during the incident.
The circumstances surrounding the alleged delay and the doctor’s version of the incident were not available at the time of filing this report. Further details are awaited.
