Agartala, 13th May 2024:   The residents of Paijabari under Ambassa assembly constituency on Monday took to the streets in protest against the persistent drinking water crisis that has plagued their community for over two months. The demonstration escalated quickly as protestors blocked the national highway near the Jaharnagar BSF camp, causing an abrupt halt to the flow of traffic.

The locals have expressed their frustration, citing that despite numerous complaints to the Gram Panchayat, no concrete steps have been taken to address the dire situation. The protest, which began early this morning, was a direct call for action to ensure the provision of essential drinking water services.

The situation reached a critical point when senior officials from the administration arrived at the scene, prompted by the news of the blockade. After negotiations, the officials guaranteed swift action to resolve the water supply issue. Following these assurances, the protestors agreed to lift the blockade, allowing traffic to resume its normal course.
