Agartala, 15th September 2026 : Residents of Gabordi area under Jampuijala RD Block have been facing severe problems due to poor road conditions and inadequate drinking water supply for several years.
Around 70–80 families live in the area, while many residents regularly travel from Gabordi towards Mohanpur and Golaghati. However, the dilapidated condition of the road has caused considerable hardship, particularly during the monsoon.
According to local residents, several stretches of the road have remained unrepaired for a long time, making daily commuting difficult. The situation becomes particularly challenging during emergencies, including transporting patients to healthcare facilities.
Residents have also complained of an inadequate drinking water supply in the area. Several families have been facing the problem for years and have urged the authorities to ensure a regular and sufficient supply of potable water.
Locals further pointed out that the Village Council elections are set to be held after nearly a decade, but questions remain over the pace of development in the area. They alleged that the development work expected after the Assembly elections, including from MLA Manab Debbarma, has not yet been adequately reflected on the ground.
The residents have urged the concerned departments and elected representatives to take immediate steps to repair and upgrade the road connecting Gabordi with Mohanpur and Golaghati. They have also demanded a permanent solution to the drinking water crisis and called for prompt intervention to address their long-standing problems.
