Agartala, 17th December 2025: Residents near Indira Club on the Sarbang–Amarpur road are facing severe difficulties due to prolonged delays in the construction of a bridge, which locals blame on the contractor’s negligence. In response, villagers from Uttarpara in the Amarpur–Birganj area staged a road blockade to protest the worsening situation.

According to the protesters, work on the permanent box culvert over Pagolchhara—the only road connecting Uttarpara—is progressing extremely slowly. This delay has left around 42 families struggling with daily commuting, affecting schoolchildren, working professionals, and patients alike.

The blockade has brought traffic to a halt. Senior administrative officials, accompanied by police, rushed to the site and spoke with the protesters, assuring them that urgent steps would be taken to resolve the problem.

The villagers demanded that construction work be completed immediately and warned that they would organize larger protests if the issue is not addressed promptly.
