Agartala, 23rd May 2025:  Frustrated by unfulfilled promises, residents of Debipur 26 Card area staged a protest this afternoon demanding urgent repairs to a crucial road that has remained in disrepair for years.

The road stretching from Debipur Bazar to 26 Card Animal Farm over a kilometer long was originally paved with bricks during the Left Front government’s tenure. However, since the change in administration, its condition has deteriorated significantly making travel by car or bike nearly impossible. Emergency vehicles, including ambulances, reportedly refuse to enter the area due to the poor road condition, forcing residents to walk long distances in urgent situations.

Locals informed that the Kamalasagar MLA Antara Sarkar Deb had assured them that the road would be repaired, even leaving construction equipment on-site at one point. However, the equipment was later removed, and no progress was made, fueling public anger.

In response, residents gathered on the main road of Debipur 26 Card to voice their grievances. Protesters warned that if repairs are not initiated soon, they would escalate their demonstration by blocking the Agartala-Kamalasagar main road. Many cited frequent accidents and daily struggles in commuting, emphasizing the urgent need for action.
