Respect your teachers, parents: Minister urges students

Agartala, 11th July 2025: In a heartwarming gesture on the auspicious occasion of Guru Purnima, Tripura’s Power and Agriculture Minister Ratan Lal Nath today visited his former school in Mohanpur Class XII School, accompanied by his beloved teacher, Nitai Acharjee, rekindling memories of his formative years.

Marking an emotional moment, Agriculture Minister shared the dais with his teacher Nitai Acharjee at his old school, where he addressed students and paid tribute to his teachers, many of whom are no longer alive. Minister said, “I came to visit the residence of my Sir yesterday and offered pranam to him and his wife. I asked him whether he remembered the school and requested him to visit it with me today”.

Recalling his school days, Minister spoke fondly of Nitai Acharjee, whose first posting was at Mohanpur Class XII School and later served as Headmaster at Bodhjung School, Sishu Bihar School, and several other institutions. “I feel very glad to bring Sir here,” the minister said, his voice filled with emotion.

Addressing the students, Minister has emphasized the importance of respecting teachers. “We never used to offer pranam with folded hands but would touch our teachers’ feet for blessings. This is our tradition,” said Minister. The Power Minister also highlighted how today’s students are fortunate to receive quality education and better infrastructure luxuries that were absent in his time.“Many people, including myself, have achieved success in life because of the tireless efforts of our teachers. They are the real gurus, alongside our parents, and every student must respect them,” said the minister.An emotional Nitai Acharjee expressed his joy upon seeing the transformation of the school from a humble bamboo structure to a well-developed pucca building. The visit evoked deep nostalgia and pride for the teacher, who was visibly touched by the recognition and love shown by his former student.
