Agartala, 9th April 2023: A review meeting on the improvement of socio-economic status of the resettled Bru people was held today at Groingnang Para under Karbook Block in Gomati district.
In the review meeting, there was a detailed discussion on the development of socio-economic standards of Bru people and the development of better infrastructure in the area.
Moreover, a 10-day training camp has been started today by the Skill Development Department with 20 youths of Bru people living in Groningnang Para.
Puneet Agarwal, Principal Secretary, Revenue Department, inaugurated the training camp. This training camp has been organized with the aim of making the boys and girls of Bru displaced families self-reliant.
The review meeting was attended by Principle Secretary Puneet Agarwal, Gomati District Magistrate Govekar Mayur Ratilal, Skill Development Department Director Sanjay Chakraborty, Korbook Sub-Divisional Magistrate Partha Das and officials of various departments of Gomati District and Korbook Sub-Division.
In the meeting, importance was laid on providing electricity, drinking water connection, income generation to all the families of Bru people through joint forest management.
Emphasis was also laid on making women self-reliance by forming self-help groups through Tripura Rural Livelihood Mission, animal husbandry, improving of education system and development of communication system.
After the review meeting Puneet Agarwal and other officials visited the under-construction Health and Wellness Center, ICDS Center, English Medium School and residences of the Bru families.
After the inspection, the Principle Secretary ordered to finish all these construction works quickly. Sub-Divisional Magistrate Partha Das said 300 families were targeted for resettlement in the area.
So far 264 families have been rehabilitated in this field. The rest of the families will also move soon. Moreover, a fair price shop will also be opened in the area.
