Agartala, 6th July 2024: The state government of Tripura has prioritized health and education as key areas for advancement, Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha emphasized this during the formal inauguration of a state-level training program for dental surgeons at Pragya Bhawan in Agartala today.
The Chief Minister inaugurated the website of the Tripura State Dental Council, Agartala Government Dental College, and IGM Hospital. Additionally, he officially launched telemedicine services through e-sanjeevani at Agartala Government Dental College. Speaking to doctors and patients via tele-services, he provided essential advice.
Addressing the audience, the Chief Minister highlighted the importance of professional responsibility for doctors. He praised the unmatched infrastructure of Agartala Government Dental College, which has received high acclaim from experts. The Chief Minister urged all stakeholders to contribute to making this college the premier institution in the North Eastern region.
The introduction of telemedicine services at Agartala Government Dental College aims to enhance patient access to medical care. The DoNER ministry has allocated Rs 202 crore for infrastructure development. Despite challenges, the state government’s unwavering commitment has made the college’s establishment possible.
The formation of the Dental Council within the state eliminates the need for students to study BDS outside Tripura. Furthermore, efforts are underway to ensure that students pursuing MDS can stay within the state.
Tripura has witnessed significant progress in healthcare. Nine super specialty departments are now operational at Agartala Government Medical College. The state government launched the Chief Minister Jan Arogya Yojana, akin to the central government’s Ayushman Bharat-Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana. Over 4 lakh families previously excluded from the scheme are now covered. GB Hospital, TMC, and ILS Hospitals are participating in this initiative.
Chief Minister Saha praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s commitment to Tripura’s development. The state government prioritizes digital management, introducing e-Assembly, e-Cabinet, and e-file management across departments. Even tri-tier panchayats have embraced e-governance, setting an example for the country. Investors from various sectors are expressing interest in contributing to the state’s growth.
CM Dr Saha was accompanied by Additional Secretary of Health and Family Welfare Department Brahmneet Kaur, Director of Health Service Dr Sanjib Debbarma, Principal of Agartala Government Dental College Prof. Dr. Shalu Roy and Tripura State Dental Council President Dr. Samir Ranjan Datta Chowdhury. Dr. Rajesh Anil Acharya, State Nodal Officer and Deputy Director (Dental) of the National Oral Health Program, delivered the welcome address, while Dr. Sujit Roy, Secretary of the Tripura Branch of the Indian Dental Association gave the vote of thanks. Other notable attendees included Mission Director of the Tripura branch of the National Health Mission Rajib Datta, Director of the Department of Family Welfare and Disease Prevention Dr. Anjan Das, and Director of Health Education Rights Prof. (Dr.) HP Sharma.
