Agartala, 7th November 2025: Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister Ratan Lal Nath today informed that rice production in the state has achieved good success this year and expressed hope that two districts, including Khowai and Dhalai, will be self-sufficient in food grain cultivation.
The Minister said this while visiting the paddy field of Bisnupada Adhikari at Lankamura today.
He also participated in harvesting paddy on the land of Bisnupada Adhikari.
Later, he said, “I have come here to Lankamura under West District where a good amount of crops are cultivated. People here grow vegetables, flowers, and other crops. Today, Bisnupada Adhikari, with government assistance, has cultivated six types of rice on 5 kani of land. He has grown black rice, Harinarayan, Kali Khasa, Binni, and Basmati. Now it is time for harvesting. Along with the Agriculture Department, I have come here to encourage the farmers of this area. Today we have started harvesting the crop,” he said.
The Minister informed that a very good amount of rice has ripened.
“This year, the production of rice in the state is very good. In our state, three districts and 30 blocks are already self-sufficient in food grain production, and we are hopeful that this year Khowai and Dhalai will also become self-sufficient if the weather remains favorable. I have experience in harvesting paddy. In the coming days, we will provide machines for harvesting rice. Now our country exports rice, fish, milk, and other products. Our production is huge, and this year will be no different. We must stand beside our farmers. Agriculture is our main foundation,” he said.
