Agartala, December 02: Residents of Karbook sub-division blocked the main road from Jatanbari to Karbook – Shilachari on Saturday morning, protesting against the poor road condition that made the vehicle movement impossible. This was the second road blockade in the area in a few months, as the previous one was called off after the sub-divisional magistrate (SDM) and the district council member (DCM) of Karbook promised to repair the road.
However, the residents claimed that nothing was done to improve the road, and they decided to block the road again at Bairagi shop area at around 8 am. The blockade caused traffic jam on the only main road connecting Jatanbari and Karbook.
The DCM of Karbook, Arjit Debbarma, reached the spot and pacified the protestors. He assured them that the work on the Jatanbari- Karbook and Shilachari roads would start within 5 days. The protestors then lifted the blockade and cleared the road.
