Agartala, 14th June 2025: Residents of Maidabari staged a road blockade from this morning obstructing the route to Maidabari Mayapuri, a tribal area under the Matarbari RD block. The protesters claimed that MLA Abhishek Debroy had initiated the construction of a road from Dataram Mayapuri to Garji, aiming to address a long-pending demand of the locals.
However, tensions escalated when an individual allegedly obstructed the construction process and removed bricks meant for the roadwork. Frustrated by the disruption, locals gathered to block the road for several hours.
The impasse was finally resolved following assurances from Udaipur Subdivisional Police Officer Nirman Das and Matarbari block officials leading to the peaceful clearance of the blockade. Authorities have assured further action to prevent such disruptions in future development initiatives.
