Agartala, 11th March 2026:   Residents of the Chailengta–Chawmanu Bakchara road area in Longtharai Valley subdivision of Dhalai district staged a road blockade on Wednesday, protesting a severe shortage of drinking water that has persisted for the past five days.

According to local sources, the crisis began a few days ago when a drinking water pipeline was accidentally damaged during ongoing road repair work. Since then, water supply to the area has been completely disrupted, leaving residents in significant distress. Although pipelines exist, the absence of water has made daily life extremely difficult for the local population.

Residents allege that despite repeatedly informing the concerned department about the issue, no steps have been taken to repair the damaged pipeline even after five days. Frustrated by the delay and the ongoing hardship, villagers gathered in the morning and blocked the Chailengta–Chawmanu Bakchara road in protest.

The blockade disrupted traffic movement on the road and caused temporary congestion in the area. Protesters demanded immediate repair of the damaged pipeline and the prompt restoration of regular drinking water supply.
