Agartala, 6th June 2026: In a commendable initiative aimed at promoting nutrition and supporting the livelihoods of marginalized vendors, the Rotary Club of Agartala on Saturday distributed modern four-wheeled “Egg & Chicken Carts” to five street vendors in the city.
The programme was organized at Orient Chowmuhani in Agartala in collaboration with the National Egg Coordination Committee (NECC) and Egg Bank. The initiative seeks to address the nutritional needs of commuters by ensuring access to quality eggs and chicken products while simultaneously creating sustainable income opportunities for small vendors.
The specially designed carts are equipped to facilitate hygienic storage and sale of eggs and meat products, enabling vendors to maintain better sanitation standards and attract more customers. Organizers believe the initiative will contribute significantly to improving both public health awareness and the economic condition of the beneficiaries.
Speaking on the occasion, Rotary Club of Agartala President Kishalay Ghosh highlighted the club’s commitment to community welfare and self-reliance. Secretary Dr. Priyanath Das and Egg Bank representative Balmiki were also present at the event, along with office-bearers and members of the Rotaract Club of Agartala.
Rotary Club officials said the project carries a dual objective—promoting nutritional awareness among the public and empowering underprivileged vendors through sustainable livelihood support. They expressed confidence that the modern carts would help vendors conduct their businesses in a cleaner and more professional manner, ultimately leading to increased earnings.
The club further reaffirmed its commitment to undertaking similar people-centric initiatives in the future to support disadvantaged sections of society and contribute to overall community development.
