Agartala Nov 08: in a fight against transhipment of contraband items through railways, RPF (Railway Protection Force) of N F Railway seized Cannabis worth Rs 11 lakh market value.The cannabis was recovered from unclaimed bags during regular checks and drives at Lumding and Jalpaiguri Road railway stations over N. F. Railway.
Reportedly, on November 04, RPF team of Lumding conducted a checking in Train no. 15909 (Awadh Assam Express) coming from Dibrugarh at Lumding railway station. The check revealed 5 unclaimed sacks containing 12 packets of Ganja weighing around 80 Kgs and valued near about Rs. 8 lakh.
The seized items were later handed over to GRP of Lumding for further course of action.In another incident on the same day, RPF team of Jalpaiguri Road conducted a drive at Jalpaiguri Road railway station. In course of drive, they seized 11 packets of Ganja weighing around 11 Kgs valued near about Rs. 1.10 lakh.
Later the seized items were handed over to GRP of New Maynaguri for further course of action.In yet another surprise checking on November 05, RPF personnel recovered cannabis in 23 packets weighing around 19 kgs having a market value of around Rs 1.90 lakh.
