Agartala, 18th December 2025:  Tripura Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha has announced ex-gratia assistance amounting to Rs 25.16 lakh for the families impacted by the tragic furnace collapse at a brick kiln in Dhalai district.

According to the Chief Minister, the Dhalai district administration has approved Rs 4 lakh each for the families of five workers who lost their lives in the incident. Financial aid for the injured workers—both critically and non-critically hurt—has also been sanctioned from the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF).

The deceased workers have been identified as Subal Debnath, Pinku Shil, Anil Goutam, Bidhu Sharma, and Sajal Malakar. Three others—Harkish Sarag, Hankish Chouhan, and Santosh Gupta—suffered injuries and are currently receiving medical care.

Expressing condolences, Dr. Saha said the state government stands with the affected families and assured them of full support and prompt assistance during this difficult time. He added that the district administration is keeping a close watch on the situation.

The incident took place on Wednesday at the ABC Brick Kiln in the Aperskar area under Kamalpur subdivision when a newly constructed furnace collapsed shortly after fire was ignited during an inauguration ceremony.

Rescue teams from the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), Fire and Emergency Services, and local police immediately launched operations. Heavy machinery was deployed to remove debris, and the injured were taken to nearby hospitals, with the seriously injured later shifted to GB Hospital for advanced treatment.
