Agartala, 4th December 2023: Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha today said that the state government is earnestly working to enhance the infrastructure of the state’s universities and has allocated Rs 77 crore for the construction of a science building at Maharaja Bir Bikram College.
Addressing students and others during the Freshers Welcome program at Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhavan, Agartala, Dr. Saha stated, “The reputation of Maharaja Bir Bikram College extends not only within the state but also to different parts of the country. The university’s environment is on par with any college in the country. Many talented students from the state, after studying at MBB College, are working with distinction in the country and abroad.”He noted the positive transformation in the state’s universities, emphasizing the importance of instilling values alongside academic education.
Dr. Saha also shared Maharaja Bir Bikram’s vision to establish technical, music, medical colleges, and other institutions in the state, a dream the current government is actively working to fulfill.
“The current state government is actively pursuing various initiatives to turn Maharaja’s vision into reality. Presently, numerous private educational institutions, including two medical colleges, a law college, a National Forensic University, a dental college, and a nursing college, have been established in the state. Consequently, the state’s children have greater access to higher education within their own region. The government is also diligently working on enhancing the infrastructure of state universities, giving a fresh and modern look to traditional institutions like MBB College. The state government has already earmarked Rs 77 crore for the construction of a science building in the college”, he said.To revamp MBB College, the government has allocated Rs 60 lakh 50 thousand for the renovation of the old road, construction of gates, and refurbishment of the old science building.
Dr. Saha informed that four paved buildings, including a heritage building, are underway with the cooperation of the Education Department.
