Agartala, 12th October 2026 : The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) organized route marches across all eight districts of Tripura on the auspicious occasion of Mahalaya, highlighting the values of discipline, unity, social responsibility and collective effort as part of its year-long centenary celebrations.
In Agartala, 997 Swayamsevaks participated in the Path Sanchalan (route march), which commenced from Pragati Maidan at 3:30 PM on Sunday. Another 121 volunteers were engaged in support activities to ensure the smooth conduct of the programme. The synchronized movements, disciplined marching and rhythmic performances by the Sangh’s musical band drew the attention of residents along the city streets.
The Agartala march proceeded in two contingents along different routes. The first moved from Pragati Maidan through Durga Chowmuhani and Ker Chowmuhani towards Colonel Chowmuhani. The second contingent travelled westward along Pragati Road, passing Haradhan Sangha, North Gate and Bidurkarta before reaching Colonel Chowmuhani. Both contingents converged there before returning together to Pragati Maidan, bringing the programme to a close.
A major attraction was the Ghosh Vahini, the RSS musical band, whose coordinated performances accompanied the march. The disciplined movements and close coordination of the participants created a striking spectacle for people gathered along the route.
Addressing the participants, RSS Pranta Sah-Pracharak G. emphasized organizational discipline, regular Shakha activities, character building, personality development and social responsibility. He highlighted the importance of self-control, physical and mental strength, and consistent practice in developing responsible individuals and building an organized society.
The address also stressed the unity of Hindu society, preservation of cultural heritage and active participation in social life. The speaker underlined the need to rise above individual interests and work for the larger good, noting that discipline should be reflected not only in organized programmes but also in everyday conduct, the performance of duties and relationships within society.
Various programmes are being organized across Tripura to mark the RSS centenary. These include Hindu conferences, youth conventions, gatherings of prominent citizens and a week-long initiative aimed at conducting the maximum possible number of Shakhas. The initiatives seek to expand public engagement, encourage youth participation and promote social harmony and collective responsibility.
The simultaneous organization of route marches across all eight districts demonstrated the statewide reach of the programme. Against the backdrop of Mahalaya, the marches sought to convey the message that individual development, organizational discipline and a shared sense of responsibility are essential to building a cohesive society.
