Rubber garden set ablaze at Teliamura, locals suspect vandalism

Agartala, 22nd February 2025 :   A rubber garden in Teliamura’s Dakshin Gokulnagar billage was reduced to ashes in a fire last night causing widespread panic in the area. The fire is suspected to be an act of vandalism.

It is reported that the Shasthi Debbarma, a resident of Teliamura Dakshin Gokulnagar Village has been sustaining his family by cultivating rubber for a long time. His rubber garden, containing around 200 to 250 trees, was set ablaze by miscreants.

Upon receiving the news, Shasthi Debbarma rushed to the garden and, with the help of local residents, attempted to extinguish the fire. The fire brigade was informed but, by the time they arrived, the locals had already managed to bring the fire under control. Unfortunately, approximately 60-70 rubber trees were destroyed in the flames.

Shasthi Debbarma estimates the financial loss to be around Rs 2 to 2.50 lakh. The identity of those responsible for the incident remains unknown.
