Run for Unity Pledge marks Ekta Diwas in Tripura

Agartala Oct 31: Run for Unity was organized in Tripura on Monday as a part of the nationwide commemoration of Ekta Diwas to mark the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the first Home Minister of India.The unity run was flagged off by Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha from the Swami Vivekananda Stadium on Monday.

The National Unity Day, State Level Program was organized under the initiative of Youth Affairs and Sports, Govt. of Tripura.At the starting of the program, Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha presided over the pledge taking ceremony.The pledge vowed to reaffirm the inherent strength of the nation towards upholding the unity, integrity and security of the country.Cabinet ministers, parliamentarians, AMC Mayor, Chief Secretaries, Director General of Police, State Youth Affairs and Sports officials, Students and others later took part in the run for unity drive.

Addressing the program, the chief minister spoke about the role of Sardar Patel’s leadership in protecting the unity, sovereignty and integrity of the country.He said, “On the occasion of the birth anniversary of the great patriot, Iron Man Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, who sacrificed every moment of his life to build ‘Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat’, we along with the entire nation pay our respects by participating in the Run for Unity”.
