Agartala, 26th June 2025: The Rural Legal Protection and Assistance Center was formally inaugurated today at Lalsingmura Gram Panchayat under Charilam RD Block. The initiative was led by the Sub-Divisional Legal Services Committee, Bishalgarh aims to empower rural communities with legal awareness and free aid.
The inaugural event drew the presence of advocate Jiban Das, Village Pradhan Ratna Shil, Upa-Pradhan, the Panchayat Secretary, all Panchayat members and a large gathering of villagers. Law Volunteer Kishore Kumar Debbarma recognized for his grassroots efforts in bridging the legal gap for rural citizens, also played an active role during the proceedings.
Following the inauguration, a legal awareness session was held wherein Advocate Das elaborated on the provisions of the NALSA (Victims of Trafficking and Commercial Sexual Exploitation) Scheme, 2015. He detailed the rights of trafficking victims, available legal remedies, and the framework for accessing compensation and rehabilitation.
Residents and local leaders welcomed the establishment of the center, citing its potential to foster legal literacy and provide crucial support to those in need. The initiative, they said, marks a pivotal step in ensuring justice reaches the last mile.
