Sabotage fire set on nine shops including house at Belonia

Agartala, March 07, 2023: Altogether nine shops including a house were burnt to ashes on the late night of Monday last near Prabhati Bazar under Belonia sub-division. SDM Ratan Bhowmik visited the spot, ordered investigation and assured financial support to the victims.

It is reported that sabotage fire was set on nine shops and a house of Tamal Kanti Banik at Tilla number 1 adjacent to Prabhati Bazar in Belonia. All the belongings including books and papers were burnt to ashes in the house. The damage is estimated to be more than Rs 22 lakh, said Tamal Kanti Banik, the owner of the house. In addition to this, traders and tenants have incurred loss of several lakhs of rupees.

Meanwhile, house owner Tamal Kanti Banik sought help from state government. On hearing the news, BJP’s winning candidate of 35-Belonia assembly constituency, Belonia mandal president Gautam Sarkar, Hrishyamukh mandal president Sushankar Bhowmik and local leader Manik Das rushed to the spot on Tuesday morning.

After handing over some financial aid to the affected families, the present leaders urged the administration to conduct a quick investigation and provide proper assistance to these helpless families and businessmen.

Sub-Divisional Magistrate Ratan Bhowmik visited the spot on Tuesday morning after receiving information about the incident. After looking into everything, he assured financial help to the victims and to unravel the mystery by investigating the incident.
