Agartala, 19th May 2025:  An administrative camp organized by the Sabroom sub-divisional administration was held at Bijoynagar Daspara Junior Basic School in Satchand block aiming to provide various government services and assess flood-related damages.

The day-long event was attended by DCM Joy Shankar Das, DCM Manojit Debbarma, SDPO Nityananda Sarkar and Sub-Divisional Agriculture Officer Manohar Das along with representatives from multiple departments. Citizens availed essential services such as PRTC issuance, income and marriage certificates. Additionally, vaccinations for livestock, medical assistance and advisory services for fish farmers were provided.

As part of the initiative, officials conducted an on-site evaluation to determine whether compensation had reached farmers affected by the devastating August 2024 floods. Authorities reviewed damages and assessed the adequacy of administrative support.

Speaking about the importance of such camps, DCM Joy Shankar Das stated, “On the instructions of the District Magistrate, we have organized these camps to ensure government services reach the people directly. This initiative strengthens public trust and makes governance more efficient.”

The camp also featured legal awareness sessions, where sub-divisional police officers educated residents on their rights and responsibilities. Many locals appreciated the program, expressing gratitude to the administration for the outreach.

However, concerns were raised by villagers regarding the condition of the old dam along the Feni River, which was partially repaired after last year’s monsoon floods. Locals fear that poor-quality soil used during restoration could result in another collapse with minimal rainfall.

They urged the District Magistrate and Subdivision Magistrate to ensure the renovation is completed with durable materials and called for the construction of a cement-and-stone guard wall to prevent future disasters.
