Agartala, 25th January 2026: Members of the Sabroom Michael Madhusudan Dutta College Alumni Association, college students, Principal Dr. Anupam Guha, Sabroom SDM Suman Rakhit, along with other administrative officials and professors, gathered in front of the college’s life-size statue of the poet this morning.
Dr. Anupam Guha offered floral homage to the poet’s statue. One by one, the Sub-Divisional Magistrate, General Secretary of the Teachers’ Association Dr. Dipankar Deb, President of the Alumni Association Goutam Tripura, Assistant Secretary Sajal Nath, and others paid their respects.
Senior Professor of Bengali Department, Dr. Kamal Acharjee, spoke about various aspects of the poet’s life. He stated that Michael Madhusudan Dutta, a prominent poet of the 19th century and a leading figure in the Bengali Renaissance, is an exemplary personality for all of us. He highlighted the poet’s creation of “Meghnad Badh Kavya” and discussed his contributions to the Bengali language and literature, particularly his use of Amritakhshara meter in poetry. Sajal Nath also shared the insights.
Dr. Anupam Guha elaborated on different facets of the poet’s life and discussed his life’s pursuits. He emphasized that our college, named after the poet, will truly be meaningful only if we follow his life example and pay homage to him.
The program’s welcoming and concluding remarks were delivered by Dr. Sudip Goswami and Dr. Dipankar Deb. The entire event was moderated by Professor Arup Patari.
