Agartala, 13th September 2025:   A shocking incident took place in the early hours of this morning when a group of suspected cattle thieves attacked a local resident in the Daspara area of Indira Nagar Gram Panchayat, under Sabroom police station. The victim identified as Jubaraj Das was brutally assaulted and is currently undergoing treatment at the district hospital in Santirbazar.

Local sources informed that the incident took place around 2:30 AM when the gang allegedly infiltrated Daspara with the intent to steal cattle. Upon sensing unusual movement outside his home, Das stepped out to investigate and was immediately attacked by the intruders. His cries for help alerted family members, who rushed out, prompting the assailants to flee the scene.

Das was initially taken to Sabroom Hospital in critical condition, but due to the deterioration of his health, he was later transferred to South Tripura District Hospital for advanced care.

The attack has sparked panic and outrage in Ward No. 1 of Indira Nagar, with residents questioning the effectiveness of border security. Despite regular patrolling by the Border Security Force (BSF), locals allege that gangs from across the Bangladesh border continue to breach fencing and carry out cattle thefts under the cover of darkness. In many cases, homeowners who attempt to intervene face violent retaliation.
