Agartala, January 23, 2024: The Land Ports Authority of India (LPI) Chairman Aditya Mishra visited the Sabroom Integrated Check Post (ICP) on Tuesday and announced that the land port is expected to be operational within the next month. He said that the project is very important for enhancing trade and travel between India and Bangladesh.
Mishra was accompanied by LPAI Secretary Vivek Burman, LPI member Sanjeev Gupta, Border Security Force (BSF) Inspector General Piyush Patel, Purushottam Das, and BSF 96 Battalion Commandant Abhimunya Jha. They reviewed the development program of the ICP and met the Bangladesh delegation on the Maitri Setu, a bridge over the Feni river that connects the two countries.
The Bangladesh delegation included PD Ramgarh Port Sarwar Alam, CO Lt. Col. Syed Imam Hossain, UNO- Ramgarh Mamta Afrin, AC Land- Ramgarh Manas Chandra Das, OC Debapriya Das, OC Traffic- Munir Hossain, and others. They showed the blueprint of development activities of the main construction program of the Bangladesh ICP to the Indian delegation.
Mishra told the media that the work of Sabroom Land Port Authority is nearing completion and efforts are being made to inaugurate the land port as soon as possible.
He said that the land port will facilitate the movement of goods and passengers between the two countries and boost the economy of the region. He also thanked the Bangladesh government for their cooperation in the project.
